Clown Baby Emergency!!!

Hi,

I am in the process of getting a large reef tank setup in my new house, and to scratch the itch for the last year we've had a small pair of clowns in my son's room - no frills, just a piece of dry rock and a barnacle. Well, the clowns laid eggs, and because this tank is so easy to maintain and its got an autofeed I look at it once a week when I clean it...it looks like they are pretty far along. I would guess they are going to hatch tonight or tomorrow (can see their eyes, appear silvery).

I would like to save this first batch if I can. Does anyone on here have live rotifers? I cannot find a reef shop with them, and as I understand it no rotis for the first week means no baby clowns.

Willing to drive anywhere in MA RI NH if someone could hook me up tonight!

Hit up @Seapets he’s in Clinton, MA if you search for him he’s posted his cell on the forum as well for faster response I’d go that route.

I ordered the reef nutrition roti kit and a number of other items. I doubt we will be ready in time for this clutch but curious if anyone with knowledge could guess how far along these are

Close, but not tonight I think. IME they usually hatch out about an hour after the lights go down, as long as the entire room is dark. That’s a small clutch, you want to pass, get setup with Phyto on rotifers and wait for them to lay again. When they start a-layin they usually get a regular cycle in place that you can time to the exact day.

I did look at your clutch they’re about to come out of the eggs. If you need. Rotifers let me know and I can show you the correct way to keep Rotifers culture going.

Do you think I should switch the barnacle to a pot after this clutch, or just leave it as is? I was thinking with a pot I could cycle in more than one, versus this barnacle I only have one.

Update - no hatch last night. Ordered the full breeder kit from reef nutrition but probably won’t arrive tomorrow even with overnight shipping.

This is all you need to make your Rotifers happy. All you need is two or three drops per day. You can use a ketchup bottle. that you can buy at Amazon. That’s what I use.

And all you need is an air tube and a air stone,

Make sure you don’t attach the air stone into the tube. You can make a small hole in the air stone plastic nipple. That’s attached to the stone and just add a small tie plastic tie to tie it to the air tube just to sink it down to the bottom of the bucket. Rotifers don’t like hundreds of miniature bubbles.

They didn't hatch last night. Getting lucky, my rotifers are going to deliver today when they originally said tomorrow. I may just move the barnacle to the hatch tank tonight. I'm not sure if the eggs are viable but I can still see their eyes and they haven't turned white.

Still no hatch. Male is now paying them constant attention where before he seemed 50% out to lunch. UPS lost our shipment but rotis delivered today. I have to imagine if they are going to hatch it will be tonight, so I may remove the barnacle as I do not have a vossen trap yet.

I have a trap. I don’t use it. I like to do the old-fashioned way clay pot.

I have seen the eyes in the eggs since the 28th. @Seapets do you think I should just drop the barnacle theyre on in the hatch tank tonight? I feel like any longer it may be some of the lights in the room preventing them from hatching. The hatch tank is full dark. I really have no choice because it's the only way i could catch them. Just hoping I don't do it too early, because I'm not actually sure when the eggs were laid.

The eggs are orange on color that’s when they laid the eggs. From that day, you count the days to move the eggs, which is between 8 to 9 days.
