Clown Baby Emergency!!!

Update: I have 14 left, today and yesterday consecutively didn’t lose any fry. Unfortunately my rotifer culture crashed, but I think at this point the fry are getting most of their nutrition from TDO. I fed the B-1 5 times today. @Seapets is that enough or too much? When I feed I do a light dusting over the surface and kill the air stone for 10 mins. They all come out to the surface and feed. I just don’t want to over / under feed. I’m doing a 50-75% water change daily depending on how scummy things are.
You can leave the air stone running while you’re feeding A and B

@Seapets when do you pull back on the lighting? I am still lighting 24/7 on the hatch tank. Did a count tonight, I have 12 left. 2 were on their way out / deformity / didn't look right. The 12 I have left are the strongest ones. Most are swimming with the classic clown "S" pattern, and they all have 1 stripe.

You can have the led lights on after all your babies are swimming out of the egg shells. No strong light.

Keep it as sun glow only just enough light for them to see the Rotifers to eat

No I'm saying I am still running the lights 24 hours a day on day 10. When would you start introducing some period of night (no lights running)?

in 3 weeks or a month. Once you see the color coming in. On the clown fish. It will be okay to keep light off

Update - I have 10 left. Lost 2 in metamorphosis maybe 4-5 days ago. Moved to sponge filter and up to C-1 on the food grade. All doing well. I don't turn the lights off at night but I have been dimming them, and they do seem to sleep (all sort of huddle in one corner).
Good job . The more you breed the more experience you’ll get.

The clowns haven't laid again. Part of me hopes they don't - this was really fun one time, especially for my kids, and is a side of fishkeeping I hadn't ventured into before. But now that I've done it I don't know that I want to start a regular program.

It is stressful because lots of times there’s no success. And we in general feel sad. when they die. It’s part of nature. It’s not an easy task. I had many many many unsuccessful hatches.

Day 12 and forward, very easy, but day 0 - 12, total pain.
Yes, it’s easy if you have time in your hands in general. I work nights full-time. and I work during the day Part-time. By the time I get home, I feel like a zombie. Lol and I still gotta check my breeding system before going to bed. Lol

Never a dull moment at the littlest reef. Son knocked an aerosol paint can off a shelf in the room with the fry, exploded. Had to do an emergency tank change which the babies certainly did not like. So far so good.

Still going strong with 10!

Hi,

I am in the process of getting a large reef tank setup in my new house, and to scratch the itch for the last year we've had a small pair of clowns in my son's room - no frills, just a piece of dry rock and a barnacle. Well, the clowns laid eggs, and because this tank is so easy to maintain and its got an autofeed I look at it once a week when I clean it...it looks like they are pretty far along. I would guess they are going to hatch tonight or tomorrow (can see their eyes, appear silvery).

I would like to save this first batch if I can. Does anyone on here have live rotifers? I cannot find a reef shop with them, and as I understand it no rotis for the first week means no baby clowns.

Willing to drive anywhere in MA RI NH if someone could hook me up tonight!
Maybe try copepods in a pinch?
