diy skimmer party???

ill bring the beer!

i was thinking..it wouldnt be to crazy..if we did just like a cone and no tub bottom that the one in that thread

just like a big cone..like an atb or whatvever

do you have those tools jbishop?

A cone with the flat sides like the thread you linked? Or attempting to bend a sheet around a template of some kind? depending on the size...we could get a foam cone from a hobby shop. Cover it in Epoxy and go at it with a heat gun? The seem would be the hardest part...but we could certainly figure it out.

it would probably just be easier with the flat sides..and alot cheaper..less messups you know

they also sell cones online for like 200 bucks

but for tools..probably not a cnc just a router table thing and table saw
not sure

we would need someone who knows CAD or sketchup to deisgn us something

for dimensions somehting like

12x12 footprint (not counting pump)..and like 24 tall

so the bottom hole of the cone would be 12in and the top hole could be like 4-6...

jbishop..it might be easier for whoever has the tools to host..just cause the tools we need are big and heavy you know

Sweet. Fun times. what do you want to use as a pump? Recirculating?

Just last night i made a new mod on my cpr bakpaki/aquafuge. I first did a modified...fishing line mod haha. was pleased. But i had some epiweb laying around...

http://www.firstrays.com/epiweb.htm

I cut it 1/4" thick and its kicking some serious a**. i dont know how it will be working in a week. we shall see. But i think its worth the try on something of a larger scale.

As far as the making of a cone. Ill call my supplier tomorrow and see about a 1/8"x2x4' cast sheet. see what kind of risk we are looking at

let me know im game i have a table saw and router but not a router table just need to know kind of blad or router dit

i have no idea..i was hoping someone smarter and experienced with building skimmers would pretty much step up and take this all over

LOL i have some tools just don't know what we need. but sound like a good time. i love to build sh!t

Yes I have the tools dude. I'm the son of a builder...

Thinking about it though are we sure the cone will be the best?

cool is he looking for help

must be cheaper!

yea its a little cheaper..because if we wanted. we could use acrylic sheet instead of having to buy the tubes which are more expensive per sq ft

its just a lot more math invloved you know..aint you an engineer or something jared im sure you could figure out the math

each person i think would end up needing around 4-5 sq ft .not counting the cup or top of cup

so thats like the cone..bubble plate..and bottom

the hardest part i think personally will be this...that flange thing

as far as plumbing goes i was thinking..if we just gonna do a big cone and no bottom tube..we could just run the plumbing through the flat sides..it would be angled up.not sure of the effects of that but im sure someone here will

if you check out his coupling. its 3 separate pieces that are glued together. If we are going to need a few of these. My ex gf's dad owns a cnc plastic machining company does does stuff for the government. he could spit them out in a hurry. and for a good price if i bring him the materials at cost.

We can also use him for anything else that may come up..
