This shuts off your return pump if yor HOB overflow loses siphon or maybe a snail blocking a drain pipe.
NO more floods from a blocked drain.:D

Thanks I am open to ideas on projects I can diy and breakdown for yall.
Miller Very cool Jen.....when are you building mine?
Just as soon as you come photo my tank. :p :D
I am thinking about building some If I get enough interest. If I were to sell this outright I would want like $90 for the time and materials. I would like to get this cost down which means buying the parts in bulk. Maybe we could do a group or club build on it.
APISTOBORELLI Can't wait to test it out.

Thanks Jennifer!
You are Welcome. Should work great for ya.
alpha0r If you don't mind me asking, what was the total cost on this project?
Yup $45 give or take a dollar, that was the cost for just the parts.

Jennifer, just curious is the relay NO or NC? I'm guessing that you use the flow switch to trigger the relay to shut off the pump. You don't want to have th 9V continuously energizing the relay, maybe only energize the relay when need to turn the pump off. In that case you will need a NC relay right?

Peter the relay I used is a DPDT so I wired the pump hot leads through the NC side of the relay. The alarm buzzer is connected to the NO side of the relay. So there is no drain on the 9v, only when the float is triggered.

That's really cool,Jennifer.
I bought one from autotopoff but could have saved some coin with your DYI one.
