Ebo-Jager heater = BOOM

i have 5 Via Aqua Ti , 2 Won II TI, and several shards of various glass heater lodged in my hand.

Nothing has nuked so far. All are 1-1.5 years old

FROM my fish tank.net

I spoke to an Eheim rep today,(1/11/05) and he said the new eheim-jager heaters were fully submersible..Just like the old ebo jager heaters.
He said that the heaters are now made completely in Germany..the old Ebos were assembled in Calif...and that they haven't received US UL approval for the heater so they can't say in ads or on the box that the heater is completely immersible.
When they get the UL approval they will change the product info.

He assured me that the current new Jager is submersible.

I have always had older ones. I have not bought one in the last year, Mine actually says sumbersable on it.

I have a Hydor Inline, I plan to use it again when I get my new tank and sump setup.

Jeff,

FWIW...I have at least 1 of most of the heater brands listed above. I have a visatherm stealth, 1 glass ebo-jaeger, 3 WON Pro-Heat units and a Finnex that Nate was talking about.

...

Also....having bought a "non glass" heater, I will never buy a glass one again. ;)

Hope it helps.

Jaimie, great info... thanks.

We haven't tried finnex yet, but the other titaniums we tried were all poor.

As for the info on ebo.. they are indeed still making heaters, the info that they were bought by ehiem and are now made in germany is accurate. We keep coming back to ebo in the shop.. no heater line is 100% perfect forever, but we've had the least problems overall with ebo.

I was using a fireplug heater that recently stopped working. Aquanetics has gone out of business, so I'm looking as well.

I've also had poor luck with the titantium brands I've tried. Cheap electronics in the controller make them fail often within a few weeks.

Ebo mostly.. have tried out a couple of the new hydor heaters as well... but those haven't been out long enough.

Thanks Jeremy. I posted the question, then re-read your post about Ebo and changed my post.
