Way under powered you are going to need a pressure rated pump iwaki 40 -55RLT or similar. the reason many moved away from these are the are inefficient as the pump required have a large electrical draw. However if you can get your hand on a Gen-X Mak4 or the like that will run at about 80watts and run the skimmer for you

wouldnt a mag 12 ok it does 1200 gallon per hour i know il lose some beacuse of head pressure but if i lost 300 gph wouldnt that be at 900? but i need a pump that works in sump ?i dnt knw much about this stuff i had a otcopus but my brother broke it on me so this is my only 2 skimmer after 6 years plus i am dealing with mirco bubble with a mag 7 for return to main tank and the skimmer i have socks and sponges in my 50 breeder

Nope won't run it

Whats wrong with the octopus?

he cracked the body when i moved he dropped it down the stairs in the winter slipped on ice so i should get a iwaki 40 -55RLT for 900 gph or more i can use the mag 12 for it does pull stuff out only if open all the way but wats the best pump and size remember their is 4 and half feet of tubing it goes threw and my nitrates are only 1 ppm does that make a diff with 18 fish

i live in raynham could u one day take a look at my system give me tips i could give u some money i do know alot but stillhave lts to learn i think my plumbing and stuff could b better

I would fix the octopus if itis just cracked
You could buy another octopus forthe money you save not buy a large pump and using tons of electricity

Might be able to look at your system at some point just not sure when

If you are looking for an external pump I got some laying around, on the other hand, if the octopus is still in one piece than fixing it is not such a big undertaking, a crack in acrylic will "mend" itself with a couple drops of solvent.

You need a pressure pump.a mag will never run any etss other than a reef devil or 500.
