etss skimmer

just wondering if anyone had tried this before i have an etss 600 skimmer with a blueline 40 for a pump that seems to skim like crazy sometimes and then hardly at all so i plugged in a small air pump and stuck the line in the air intake on the skimmer it seems to have made the bubbles smaller and steadier it has been only a couple of days but seems to be doing better than without it

No but this is an interesting mod. Ive been thinking about trying to mod mine ETSS evo 500.

i only used one of those small air pumps like 5 bucks at walmart i would think the more air you can put in the better the result to a certain point

What if you drilled another hole rather then block the intake with air line?

Two things I remember I had to do when I had my ETSS. I had to remove all of the bioballs and replace them with new ones annually. They accumulated waste and calcium build up and reduced the skimmer's performance over time.

Also, I added ball valves to the air intakes that allowed me to adjust the airflow. Additionally, decreasing the number of bioballs allowed me to get more air flow through the skimmer. Removing one or two bioballs makes a big difference in performance.

No, but just removing one from each tower makes a big difference. If you do remove bioballs you will need to adjust water flow and air again. I would just play around with removing one or two and see if performance improves.

I control mine with a ball valve and just keep the air intakes clean using a bottle brush. They get crusted up with salt on the inside if I don't.
