Float switch/ATO/locline?? sigh...

Are ya kidding me?? OK-took apart a float switch connected to the TO/DI unit to switch it out with another one-apparently they aren't compatible(i think) so put the old float switch back in last night(they both work fine...it's the operator who is screwing up)..So with my 120pgd RO unit on last night I initially saw no leaks and was HAPPY(sorta) woke up this morning...sloshed my way over to the unit and shut the water off(break out all the towels here for clean up) spent most of the day trying to fix it-either I have really bad handyman skills or I'm missing something-now I seem to have gotten the washer "stuck" so Ican't unscrew it...which basically leaves me "scre!*%" for the moment. I know it's something completely simple...I can't even remove the blue locline(even though someone showed me once to push in then pull..it isn't working for me) This probably makes no sense to anyone-and difficult to help when you don't know what is broken..so I guess posting for my own frustration..(I think I picked up your bad luck streak Jay!)...sigh

When you look at the fitting (which is a John Guest and not Loc-Line - Loc-Line is the black segmented stuff that you have on the output of your return pump) right where the blue hose goes into the fitting, there's a small collet. Push the collet into the fitting while you pull the hose out.

OK..that worked...push and pull at the same time...GOTCHA! do I need to have this fitting on the float switch? I want to switch it to the coralife float switch and that fitting wouldn't screw into it(or again...at least for me?) Then I could use the "bobber" float switch in my return chamber for the ATO b/c it is so much smaller and will fit.(Will that work hanging it from a mounting bracket in the return?) I know too many dumb questions

Uhm. Huh?

Doesn't your float switch have two wires that come out of it? Or are you talking about a float controlled valve? A float *switch* would make or break and electrical connection which would turn a solenoid controlled valve on/off. You would not hook up water line to it.

Maybe I'm just missing something.... Got a picture?

I give up! I call it a float switch b/c I thouhgt that is what the "linho" was..looking at the packaging for teh float "valve" I now stand corrected to say float valve. Does that help?(this is almost borderline embarassing )

There's instructions for the Coralife Float Valve here:

You would not use the John Guest fitting with it - the tube should go directly to it.

I think myy main issue is I am a visual learner(or experience learner) rather than reading something and being able to put it together in my head and be confident that I have it right(or at least in the ballpark...) May be a shortfall at times..but I keep trying and make it work
