Flow questions

I’m in the process of doing the plumbing for my 60g,
My return pump output to 1” tube and the. Going into 3/4 locline in the tank. My question is which approach has the least restricted flow.
1-1” pipe all the way to the end and then convert to 3/4 locline
2-partial 1”pipe foot length and then convert to 3/4 the rest of the way

currently I have one 1" drain, but i'm going to convert it into 2 1" drain to reduce the noise. I had a jebao mdp-5000 rate 1453gph 13ft, i'm assuming at my return height top most 1000gph, the overflow can handle it just fine with 1" drain, once i add the 2nd drain it shouldn't be a problem, I'm just curious if I use long 3/4 run on return it will lower gph

why would you not keep both 1” are you going to install a balancing valve in one of the 2 drains. This would be needed to operate both continuously IMO

It’s already done, to be honest didn’t think of that. But two 1” return on a 60 cube is overkill unless you’re doing close loop

or have a creature or something other block one of your drains and the 3/4 can not carry the required flow alone in the single drain IMO. I know this is a what if situation but myself this is how I always think when dealing with flow and drains in the aquarium. Glad you are all set. now sit back and enjoy the slow pace of this hobby. Happy Reefing.

This is not drain this is return 2 3/4 return and 2 1” drain, trust me if I could go bigger on the drain i would but the overflow is too small for 1.25 or 1.5 drain
