fragging large zoo rock

Has anyone actuallly used a chisel and hammer to cut a large zoo rock in half? I'm wondering how successfull this primitive sounding method actually is?

It works fine. I've done it a few times. Be gentle and after the rock splits just cut any of the zoas that are still connected with a razor blade to make a clean cut.

I've done the screwdriver and hammer technique...works fine.

I have done it to zoa's and gsp it work's great and is also fun . Make sure you rinse the rock before putting it back in the tank, not that it will hurt much if you don't. I just rinse them quick to get rid of debris and detrius so that crap doesn't go back into the display...

It?s a lot simpler than it sounds. The rock breaks very easy.

easiest way of doing (actually the only way that I know play with zoas )where eye protectors though ,cause if you by chance hit a zoa with the chizel it WILL squirt and that can be dangerous
