fragging pulsing xenia

question on fragging xenia. i guess the question is how? i have knowledge on fragging mushrooms but not with xenia and i have 3 stalks and i would like to take one and frag it but i need info?

I wedge fingernail between the base of xenia and rock, then carefully peel away. You can then rubber band it to rubble or discs....it will take hold in a day or two.

Only if you have a large one with more than one stalk, you can slice it between the two with clean, sharp razor, then like i said, peel it off the rock.....

You can but then it's left to heal somewhat b4 it gets a chance to attach to anything.I place something (rock,plug...)touching them and in a few weeks they will have spread and then cut to seperate if needed.

I snip mine with scissors. They always still grow out.

If you chop them up into pieces and put the pieces on rock rubbles, you will get several stalk very soon. The question is how to kill them off.

so do you cut the top of the salk off then frag it into peices like a pizza.....like doing a mushroom?

i got this really nice wedding veil from wal mart 0.57$ a yard and 1 yard is huge so i was thinking about cutting up my mushroom and doing 1 of the stalks of the xenia.

I think the easiest way is to put my new rock right on top of a branch of the xenia. It will attach and grow up towards the light in a couple of days and you can chop it off with a razor or scissors. Be forewarned, the smell is terrifically horrible. You will be much happier if you wear gloves and don't spill any of the drippings on yourself otherwise it lingers for days.

I don't cut it like a mushroom. I just cut a stalk and let it grow. Why would you want to divide a stalk? They spead fast enough as is.

this is what i did. i put it as close to my other rocks as possible and i was gonna see if it will grow out on to the other rocks.

im new to xenia and well new to saltwater in general, so i guess i am a newb...and i hate refering to myself as that but thats the cold hard truth. on the good side i did a test of my water and all my levels are perfect except i think my nitrates might be abit high around 20 ppm?

yes it will spread to other rocks in that manner.....careful you don't put them where you're not gonna want them later on.....they're a real PITA to remove completely.......you have to literally scrub them off with stiff brush and siphon up all the loose pieces.....

xenia is that bad? i read about gsp being bad and taking over tanks. didnt think the xenia would too...

Xenia can get to be a pain. But itt's pretty easy to just grab a hadful and tear it out. Be warned, when out of the tank it stinks to high heaven. Dispose of carefully.

my xenia dont fully extend much. they have been in the tank for about 4 days now. i have seen them fully extend 1 time. and even when they were extended they werent pulsing. any ideas

today i noticed that one of the heads had poped off, and was floating around the tank. dose that mean that it is not doing good, or will the head attach somewhere and start growing?
