I stared reef tanks back in 2004 and have had success with most of my tanks. The last one I had was a Red Sea peninsula mixed reef and loved it.
Then back in 2019 we had our first kid and decided to take a break from the hobby. Now my soon to be 6 year old started getting into the reef world based on us going to mystic aquarium almost every other week since we live 10 minutes away from there now.
I decided to get back into the hobby again to share this with both my boys (5 and 3 year olds) as they grow up. I will be starting back either a 20g AIO fusion from innovative marine. I have equipment left to start back up from my old setups, such as the tank, some Nero pumps, a radion g4 pro and an ato.
My plan is to keep it simple for now. Just a pair of clowns with anemones, some zoas and some acans and/or torches. I’ll stay away from sps and demanding corals in the meantime.
In between this break I haven’t had any involvement with anything reef news related. I’ve still been keeping my BRS membership active to support the club knowing that one day I’d get back into it. What have I missed thus far? Is my light still adequate? Any new fancy equipment I can look into? What’s the most popular salt to use to this day? Back then I used the Red Sea salt due to my sps and had good luck with it.
Edit: just noticed that I didn’t post this on the meet and greet section. If it needs to be moved, that would be great! My bad!
