Green tree coral turning black

i recently bought s screaming green tree coral off of a member that was fine for the first few days after added to the tank but know it has black spots all over it. I picked it up and it broke off of the rubble it was mounted to real easy. My question is should i try and removed the black from it, leave it alone, or is it a goner?

Tree corals are sensitive to any thing moving around it. Try putting in a place with little interference but with enough O2. If it turns black I would remove it. Good luck

You can re-mount the tree using a toothpick and rubber band secured around a piece of rubble. As for the black spots, they could be part of just adjusting to the new tank or maybe a sign of infection. I would leave it alone for a few days and see how it does. Maybe posting a picture would get you a more definitive response. Good Luck:)

I would leave it alone, just keep it in low light/flow. The healing process of nepthea can be ugly, and I've seen it recover from what you're describing.

I see this from time to time on a couple of my leathers. I've always assumed that it's a bacterial infection, but I don't know that for a fact.

Whatever the case, they seem to heal on their own with no special attention. Sometimes an affected branch will drop off, but I've never lost a colony to it. Also, I find that if I siphion the black off, it seems to come right back, but if I leave it alone it seems to clear up faster.
