Doh! how did you do that?

man, that is no good!!!
Is that in your 125?

Yeah its on one of the overflow cornors.
I have a couple powerhead wires that run verticley down that corner, I moved them today and just noticed it... I have no idea where it came from...

Not too happy about this.

insert smilly puking here _______ not good.is your tank on an aga stand ?can't tell from the picture.

I would be sick too
Here is the smiley your looking for

No its a home job, It came with the tank when I got it, I just "re-skinned" it so It had fresh wood on the exterior.

Don't know how it got there, and don't really care... I think I should be more concerned now on what to do about it.

Not to sound stupid (OK maybe a little), but is that a chunk of glass missing?

No its perfectly flush, You can just see the crack in the panel, but can not feel anything.

is it on the outside, not all the way through to inside of overflow right?

I am wondering if you use a structural epoxy if that would work

The crack is on the back glass of the tank. Going from the dry side to the wetside. This panel is also overlaping the side panel.

Hopefully just bumped the corner at some point
Can you brace it at the point?
If it was at the top I wouldn't worry about it...but the bottom

I would think it would hold up OK - due to where it is - on the very outside corner of the joint

oh I think I understand what im seeing now, I too thought it was a chip. damn, I have no idea what to do about that one

Have you made any determination of what may have caused it .... Stress or accident?

Regardless, the damage is done, but if you can rule out accident then I would relate it to stress, though it appears highly unlikely.

But IMO i think completly breaking it down and replacing it with a new one would be something that I would be putting into the works ASAP.

Weighing out the cost of potential damages it would cause if it were to let go can only be the determing factor ... as opposed to the upfront costs of replacing a it with a new one ... I dont know anyway way to fix a crack like that that not would hinder my sleeping patterns.

No I can't say for sure what happened to cause it. There is no marks on the glass that indicate it was hit or bumped. I purchased the tank used, and I have no idea of its real history.

As far as near future plans, I have marked the glass. I am home for the next few days, I am going to keep an eye on it to see if its moving or not.

Truethfuly, as much as I would love to go out and buy a nice new 180, I just dont have that kind of cash sitting around at the moment. So ill be keeping an eye on both the crack, and the msg boards for a replacement of some sort.

Try playing with a straight edge .... sit it on the plastic molding ... rest it up against the glass in different directions .... along the top frame ... see if it is sagging anywhere ....

Could it be a result of your stand not being shimmed properly?

Could it be a result of the tank not sitting flush on the stand? By that picture it appears that the frame overhangs the stand a bit ... though the glass appears to be directly above the stand the frame is a bit outside!

Determining the casue will help you to rectify your problem? If it is stress then it more likely then not it will rupture sometime in the future. If it were a result of an accident then would feel a bit more comfortable.

Could it be from that other table that is up against the frame maybe someone bumped that table up against the frame of the tank and it chipped the glass, it appears by the texture of the chip ... (the waves) ....that it started from top to bottom.

Good luck with this!!!
