Grrrrr...

Try playing with a straight edge .... sit it on the plastic molding ... rest it up against the glass in different directions .... along the top frame ... see if it is sagging anywhere ....

Could it be a result of your stand not being shimmed properly?

Could it be a result of the tank not sitting flush on the stand? By that picture it appears that the frame overhangs the stand a bit ... though the glass appears to be directly above the stand the frame is a bit outside!

Determining the casue will help you to rectify your problem? If it is stress then it more likely then not it will rupture sometime in the future. If it were a result of an accident then would feel a bit more comfortable.

Could it be from that other table that is up against the frame maybe someone bumped that table up against the frame of the tank and it chipped the glass, it appears by the texture of the chip ... (the waves) ....that it started from top to bottom.

Good luck with this!!!

Len
I think your on to somthing len.if that table was bumped thats all it would take to do that.

i honestly wouldn't worry about it. One of my 55 holding tanks has an actual chunk of glass missing half way up the seam. I was worried at first.. but it is holding up fine. I know there is way more water in a 125 and more pressure but you would see drips coming out first if anything.. then i would worry

I meant to say bottom up here!!!

If it’s in the overflow area then you could drain the overflow and brace it by adding a 1/2” or 5/8” thick by 2 or 3” wide by 6” long piece of glass inside the overflow catching the front, side and bottom panel set in full silicone.

How did you make out with this? gotten worse?

WOW! i had something similar happen back in 96 .. the tank held for about 6 months thinking it was going to be fine... 2am it burst sending 55 gallons of water, rock, plants, and apistogrammas down 3 flights of stairs (from my attic to my 1st floor) the splinter was less than 3/16ths of an inch and literally right on the edge of the glass, the glass split in a V from the edge....

I bumped the edge of my tank with a 5 gal. glass jug and it looks similar (although much smaller, more or less just a chip). But I'd be concerned say if it were caused by stress, such as if the very corner of the tank was carying more than it's share of weight. Is this a possibility?
