Guaging Interest - GlassCages

So I'm looking around for a tank for my new house. For me, the ideal size would be a 5 footer. GlassCages quoted me a price of $540 for a custom 5x2x2 tank w/low iron glass front and two holes drilled in the back.

That's great, but the issue of shipping comes up. Well, it turns out they deliver to shows in White Plains, NY fairly regularly. The next is on 2/25/2007. I was given a price of $80 as a delivery charge from TN to NY.

So my goal with this thread is to see who else is interested in ordering from GlassCages (I know you're out there!) and see if we can come up with some sort of plan to get all of our tanks in a single trip to NY. We would order separately and pick up together. I don't have a truck, but could probably get one. If someone has a truck that would probably be better. Obviously a bigger truck would allow more tanks to be included in this. The idea would be that we would split the cost of gas and such.

So assuming we somehow work out all of the above, then the issue of pickup/delivery back in MA would remain. My tank would be ending up in Weymouth.

So thats the general idea. Who might be interested and what are your thoughts on this plan?

I would be interested but the logistics would be a nightmare. Your down the S Shore, Central Mass here and S NH. Don't see how it would work out???

Can't they ship to a trucking terminal? Used to be a standard flat rate of 50 bucks a pallet. I know it's gone up but still shouldn't be that much??

Reading other peoples' experiences, it sounded like shipping would be on the order of $300 a tank or something.

The truck I might be able to get would actually originate from central MA, so I wouldn't be too concerned about dropoff in Fitchburg.

The big question would be NH. Deadhermitwalkin, what was your plan for getting your tank? Were you hoping for dropoff in NH or would you be able to pick it up in MA?

Yes...but they told me the are going to White Pains New york. If we could get enough orders they would head here.

Well I am serious. You can tell them I would want a 120 (maybe bigger)? So we have 3 tanks so far. Could you check with them to see what it would take for them to head this way??

i am "seriously" thinking of getting a 4' x2' x2' tank from them, but i can not promise as the final approval has not been issued by my Superior
