HELP!!! Low salinity.

I did a water change yesterday, instead of add saltwater to the tank, I added my top off water to the tank instead (blamed on the beers)... Checked salinity this mornin, it's at 1.016. What is the best way to bring salinity level back? Keep top off with saltwater slowly?

you should add some salt right away (up about .002 to .018) , then move it up .002 per day over the next 3 days.

DON'T move it up all at once.

That would work... also do a water change with water that has extra high salinity would also help... u have to be careful, and pay attention next time lol... ive blamed a few mishaps on the beers myself too though :)

How big is your tank? I would take some water out, mix it with salt to make a high salinity content, and then drip it back into the tank throughout the day. You can poke a hole in a deli container and let it drip or make a small stream depending on your tank size. Like Jay said, bring it up a little faster today then more slowly over the next couple of days. At this point I think it's better to reuse the water in the tank rather than do another water change because you've already shocked your system quite a bit. Dripping it will give your livestock a chance to adjust rather than another shock.

Thanks guys!
I'll slowly raise it up in the next few days. Crossing my fingers and hope my corals can go thru this..

I was trying to blamed on beers :), it's just me. I have identical barrels for mixing and top off and stupid enough for not labeled them, that's what come to this.

It's 125+sump. Just took 5 gal off the tank and adding salt, mixing now, I'll add it back slowly.
