Red tide? Isnt' that a free floating dinoflagellate thing? I've never heard the term used in reefkeeping?
What does it look like? Slime, mat, hair, stringy, leafy, bubbly?
I've read a bit about red tide in tanks, and there seems to be very little information on why it happens. It also seems to nuke people's tanks. I doubt you have red tide since it seems very rare. You may just have some kind of cyano or dino's.
Do any of these look similar?

nope! I'm starting to feel like a freak accidentI looks like reg. purple Coraline algae but its red and it doesn't spread around in a group like reg. purple coraline algae does. Its more like spots of red Coraline its growing pretty quick on a few peace's that are located 5'' from the top of the tank so its getting lots of light .
heres what I mean when I ask if my LR has red tide?If it's hard, red and looks like coraline, it probably is and coraline is good.
The pic looks more like cycling diatom growth??
