Just realized: there is no restrictor on my RODI unit. Consequences?

I bought a used AquaFX RODI a few years ago and have been running it since. It always put out 0 TDS measured water. The pressure gauge never seemed to work though (always 0 PSI)

Recently I've been looking into getting a RO flush kit and couldn't figure out how these things worked.. until I finally read a thread and realized I have no flow restrictor on my waste line. (oops).

So, I guess that means I've been running my RODI in flush mode since day 1.

The question is: how bad was this? The obvious would be maybe I have been wasting a ton of water. Does it also shorten the membrane life?

Anyway.. time to order one now. :o Oh, the pleasures of buying used :D

Oops. never mind. Didn't realize the restrictor is inserted into the fitting, so didn't see it :D

I guess you could manually flush it by just putting a line without a restrictor there :)

Ya... Some of them are inserted in the exit line, mine is in the John Guest fitting, I must admit I prefer a separate component but I can't give good reason for it.
