Heard back from Eshopps and they are sending a replacement internal box. It was not holding water overnight, which was indicative of a leak. I’ll let you know how that process goes.
Few minor updates to plumbing. I realized my manifold would be sending the water the wrong way (grabbing it from the return section and dropping a few chambers up in the sump).
Maybe not a big deal now, but when I plumb my larger tank in, I’d think I’d like my manifold to only have water that didn’t just go through it). This way I’m not treating a higher percentage of water that was just treated.
I’ll be starting my manifold in the skimmer sock section and dropping it the next chamber over where my skimmer is.
Also made a few purchases.
Have 4 - 47” quanta reef helix bars coming. 2 meso blue and 2 reef crest daylight. Those will be going over the low boy.
I decided to hard plumb reactors. One for carbon, which I normally run, and another for gfo or potentially bio pellets. For those I’ll be using bashsea 6-12 reactors with the slip fittings in red. Trying to find some creative ways of mounting those to the wall which I think I have.
Two pumps will be used. An octo varios 2 for the reactors and a 6 for the frag tank and refugium. I’m trying to ensure that I can run the pumps interchangeably like I had before. Likely just more piping needed to connect them with ball valves.
For flow in the frag tank I’m using a gyre xf350.
Still haven’t decided on skimmer. Coralvue’s outlet website has an ice cap k3 200 ovp for about $200. Figured if it worked, it’s the steal of a lifetime. If it doesn’t, I’m not out all that much.
Any thoughts on that skimmer? Seems like most moderately performing skimmers are out of stock. Had my eyes on a deltic 1500i and may wait for that given I don’t even have fish yet.
Lastly, I’m eyeing the icecap 40 watt in sump uv sterilizer. It’s underpowered for the total volume I plan to have, but honestly, don’t know if I want to go with something larger on the wall. Tough shelling out that kind of money where most options seem to have reviews with quality issues.
Any suggestions in that space? I was looking at a 90 watt ice cap, which would be a little over kill, but reviews on it were so so.
Last question. Everytime I see a manifold, it has individual returns to the sump for each tee off it. I completely understand why.
Is there a way to plumb a manifold so that each tee connects back to a single return in the sump without fighting each other? IE two reactors and a UV sterilizer all reconnect to one return?
