Live Rock Buy

I'd like to get 30-40 pounds of LR from AA. Does anyone want to group together and have them order a couple boxes for us? Joe says you get the best stuff if you pick up your own box.

Figi comes in 40# boxes. One box costs $200 ($5/pound), Two boxes cost $320 ($4/pound).

I've noticed a bunch of people trying to buy small quantities of rock on the board, so if everyone wants to get together, I'll handle the details.

Let me know if you're interested. I'll want to do this by this weekend.

Nate

I'd be interested, but the time frame is too early for me. It's going to be a few weeks before I need about 40lbs.

This stuff should be tanked for a week or two before using it anyways. I'm not setting up my new tank for another two weeks, but I'm going to get the rock next week so I can put it in a plastic bin in the basement with heaters, so that it's ready to go when I want it. If we do this together we'll save about $40 each, so consider getting it early and getting it cycled, so you don't have to worry about it when your tank is going. (I might possibly be convinced to tank yours in a bin in my basement if you can provide a heater and chip in towards water and salt).

Nate...wish I could, but I need to plumb the tank with this paycheck. So the funds won't be available till mid October. I'd love to save the money, obviously if I'm doing one tank project per paycheck I could stand to save a few bucks. :)

I am setting up a 40 breeder. This paycheck I am hoping to get the plumbing taken care of. I need to purchase an OceansMotions Squirt and a pump. I have been trying to get this tank going for about a year now. I bought the lights, 4x39w T5, a year ago October. I made a custom acrylic sump, refuge, and skimmer last winter too. Plumbing is the last thing to do to get going. That and buying rock.

Mike just corrected me. Boxes of Fiji are 40# for $160, not $200. If we get a few hundred pounds of orders together here then they'll order it all and let people pick up any amount for the $4/pound price. You can't beat that, even with mail-order, plus you can pick your own pieces, so let's get together and support a quality LFS!

Nate

any chance of getting kaleni instead of fiji? thats great rock. its the stuff in the left side of his sys if that hasn't been changed around too.
he's done huge mods to his store. LOOKS great!

if i recall his normal price is 4.00lb for 50+
think we could get a price break ontop of the 4.00lb?
say 3.00 if over 100lbs or 150lbs?

and for all those on the south shore marc on the cape has fully cured live rock. its been in vats for at least a month if not more. ummmm and he's a BRS sponsor.

The price break he's giving is that he'll sell members any quantity at the over 50# price (up to $2/pound savings). So it's a better deal for folks who want to get small amounts. Maybe they'll give us a deal if a few people each want a 40 pound box. (I'm in for one).

We can definitely get Kaelini if that's what people want in bulk. Or, a small number of us could split a box of Kaelini. It comes in 80# boxes for $5/pound.

I'm all for BRS sponsors, and I'm happy to participate in any sponsor group buys. I'm looking into AquaAddicts because they're my local fish store, and they have nice rock and nice prices. I was planning to go there anyways for some rock, so I called Joe this morning and asked if it would be ok for me see if a few members wanted to get together to clear the 50# volume discount. I'm just trying to keep things on this board helpful and cooperative. It'd be great if I could save a few reefers a couple bucks, and at the same time help keep the catty posts off the top of the stack for a few hours. :)

Cheers, Nate

New to AquaAddicts, where are they?

I may be interested in a 40lb box of fiji and even 20 lbs of kaleni on top........

Thanks Scott
I do appreciate that.
I do have fully cured Fiji premium rock and dry rock right now. I'll be getting more dry next week as well as shipments of Fiji and Kallini before the grand opening party. (and yes there will be specials)

Nate, can't blame ya for trying to stay with your local store.

ya think i can get my thoughts together or what.....

Is this cured LR?

I think AA is changing things up a bit so he can stock LARGE amounts of rock but chances are until its complete its not cured unless its already in the store. thus the "marc on the cape" post.

Ceige, AA is worth a visit. i love the kaleni he stocks.

I think I will stop in to see the selection. I do read the many compliments. Thanks.......

Nate please don?t count me in at this time not ready for a group buy

Good luck.....
