Low PH help please

location: Danvers MA
My PH is at 7.9 but I want to get it up a little but superbuffer isn't working. Any suggestions? Thanks!

I think we need a little more info to give more educated hypotheses.....some #s and if you have been adding anything and in what amount to try and rectify the situation.....pH can be affected by a lot of variables

I have added no suppliments just superbuffer. I did add a bunch of new corals and fish though. Everything seems to be thriving but I just want to get it set. Thanks

and what is your Alk and Ca levels???? need much more info, have you added anything for Ca lately? You need a good book my friend, a book to learn all about pH and it's relation to other chemicals in the system

If you're looking for a quick fix to raise pH, baking soda will do it, and it's a lot cheaper than superbuffer.

There are valid points above; if your Ca is out of balance, it is going to be difficult to raise alk at the same time. Adding new corals will only increase your calcium demands in the tank. You should try and get Mg, Ca and alk readings, then post them. We can give you a good direction to go once we have that info.....

How are you measuring your pH?

Jim

Ph

If all other levels are good, especially alk, then test for Magnesium. I had the same issue which was resolved by adding B-Ionic Magnesium

Great question, Jim.
7.9 is pretty much 8.0.
That's not too low for a nighttime reading.

But pH testing methods vary in their trustworthiness.
