Macro Algae ID Help?

smcnally

Tankless
Anyone know what this "Ivy" looking macro is?
I don't know what the other dark green macro is either, so any help on that would be cool too.

I don't know the ID, but I can tell you it's a PITA. I've had it in my system for years, nothing eats it and it's ugly. I have to go around and manually pull chunks of it every few months (as I've been doing since 2000, very annoying)

Oh yea, it also did go asexual once, even more annoying...

yank that sucker, and be wary of little white roots left stuck in the rock. If it's just on a single chunk of rock it might even be worth it to pull the rock and bleach it. IME that stuff is very resilient (and did I mention annoying).

Algae ID

It is hard to see from the small sample and color. It looks to me like it might be Halimeda, but would have to see a larger piece. If it is Halimeda it will only be real green in color if the calcium level in the tank is around 400. It is dependent on the calcium for growth.

It will be interesting to find what this is.
