I had a 14k Phoenix.... that's pretty blue... I don't know what brand you have now.

The Hamilton HQI bulbs have a nice balance of blue. I run 250W HQI and really like their color.

the bulbs now are stock 14ks. Anyone try thouse german bulbs? What are they all about?

Phoenix 14k is definitely the most popular choice. That's what I'll be using once I get my new tank set up. The best thing would probably be to find the closest member who's using them and go have a look. Considering how much bulbs cost, it's most likely worth the trip to check them out in person.

I went from a ushio 14k to a phoenix 14k 150 watt and have been real happy with it.
