My 90 gallon adventure

good luck dude. Let me know if you need help or whatever. I made my own stand for really cheap for my 90 so I could send you pics.

thanks!

i still don't know what i'm doing for the stand, i'm either keeping it how it is, building the tank in wall, building it as a column or maybe even something else...I'm going to be deciding by this weekend for sure though

for everyone that's been following...after three hours of power buffing this morning I have to say a few things about this product I've been using:

1. it is for light surface scratches only.

2. anything you can feel with your fingernail will only buff out to the point where you can't feel it, not to the point you can't see it.

After spending about 6 hours trying to buff the glass I may try one more time then either leave the tank how it is because it will only be for my personal use and me and my brother are the only ones who will view it regularly and make a rock wall backing and spray paint the two sides or I could replace the front panel of glass and do the same thing I mentioned before.

I do recommend this product but only if you are trying to clean light surface scratches you cannot feel with your finger nails.

I haven't done an update in a while but my tank is in my basement with the stand it had, i tested how much it can hold, I should be fine no matter what I put in there.

I painted three sides black and it looks great. With the lights on over the empty tank you cant even notice the scratches for the most part.

I've decided that I'm going to just start from scratch with all my rock and sand and am going to go with marco's fiji or key largo, have not decided, and with his sand.

I am also redoing my 55 gallon set up and moving it from my shop to my father's house and either putting a 65 or a much larger tank, over 150gallons.

I've never used Marco's rock and was wondering how much people recommended using per gallon. I am going to be using dry rock and I know his rock is very porous and lighter when dry so I just thought I'd ask before I bought the rock and sand for these tanks, and possibly a few others my family wants set up in the near future.

Same question with the sand, not looking for a deep sand bed, but I do want some decent depth, I'm thinking around 1lb of sand per gallon, I'm just not too sure about the rock.

IMO let the glass scratch remover evaporate some (alot) of it's liquid?I think it would make it much more productive....bigtime...liquid vs paste(little extreme)....pasty!yeah! thats it pasty:rolleyes:
I think rock is something 1-2lbs per gallon is good more is better.Sand I don't think 1 will do might be more like 2-3lbs per.Reefcentral has a good calculator for that stuff.Keep the pics coming,Quite enjoyable.

The scratch remover pretty much was a paste to start, and I could feel it getting very hot, very fast without adding water so i added water as recommended to keep the temperature as to where I was sure nothing would get distorted and/or catch on fire.

I'll post some pictures tomorrow of the tank as of now for an update

The pictures before didnt turn out well so I figured I'd save it all for the update after this one.

My Marco Rock and sand came in today and I am planning on spending the night rockscaping until it is perfect. I'll be mixing the water and getting this bad boy cycling tomorrow or saturday hopefully! Stay tuned later tonight for pictures of the soon to be full tank!

Lights aren't hooked up so I took the picture like this

All marco rock and his bahama sand, I'm very pleased with it and am most likely going with this formation, I may move it around a little bit and stack a little higher but I haven't decided how into SPS I'm going to get with this tank yet :D

bah, i knew i forgot something...and to think i was just going to make a post asking why all my fish were dying, silly me!

Tank is all plumbed, power heads installed, rock work set.

Setting up my new 6 stage RO/DI unit after a shower, letting it flush then starting to fill this baby tonight!

I tried adding the intake line to an existing ball valve...I guess our plumbing was done by a shotty plumber.

Update tomorrow after I fix the pipe -_-

Your killing me here Ed!!!! :)

Come On Now stop teasing us here. My future plan is to go 90 and I must see this.

Well, I decided to put the T valve on and low and behold...the one that came with the unit was crap and the piercing/on off screw snapped as soon as it was as low as it could go...never had any resistance until I tried to loosen it to start the flow...now I have a pierced water main line that isnt leaking but there is no way to loosen the valve. now I need to get some vice grips and try to loosen it that way. If not im removing the part of the valve holding the on/off and will install a new one. this isnt necessary to replace if I can get it open because I have an on/off built into the intake line going to the R/O.

This unit installation is becoming a PITA i'll tell you. It's killing me having all of the parts to start the tank but it isnt even cycling  I'll try and get to lowes tonight one way or another.

There was a hose type ball valve that I was making a nice connection with until it ripped off due to it being repaired a few times. I didn't notice the blatant flaws in its construction until after.

Plumbing nightmare fixed, RO/DI is up and running, system has flushed for two hours...stay tuned for the full tank in however many hours it takes to fill...i'd imagine a day or so from now.

Ya man, i'll tell you, this plumbing disaster and now filling the tank are the worst part! I got this tank from you 4 months ago? and it's finally coming together...what a wait it has been.

Now up and running

once the temp is up i'll seed it with some of my live sand and try and scrub some coraline off my LR in my 20 to get that going as well.
