shoot for around 430 calcium, low 8 for alk maybe a bit lower at its lowest as i dose 2 part, but will looking into a calcium reactor soon... to keep it steady all the time, i jus need to learn a little more about how this affects ph, and of course a little more loot

and i dose mag weekly, jus enough to keep it around 1375 to 1450...

i hear ya on the loot thing lol this hobby gets expensive FAST! i've recently found a lot of people are actually going with their alk around 7-8...do you find any benefits in doing so instead of keeping it up around 9-11?

i got all new bulbs in... they are all ATI... 8 bulb fixture configured as follows...

blue plus
aquablue special
purple plus
blue plus
blue plus
purple plus
aquablue special
blue plus

i have changed my lighting times... the middle 4 consisting of 2 blue plus and 2 purple plus are on from noon to 10, and the outer bulbs which include the 2 aquablue specials, are on from 2 to 8...

I have my light about 10" above the surface... and will be adding a fan in the near future to keep the bulbs cool...

also, jus to note, as i have been using BRS two part daily, along with the BRS two part magnesium once a week, i have also started dosing 2 drops of Lugol's Solution daily, and Brightwell's Potassium once a week...

So far, all seems good, and i wana say, the colors in both my green milli and emerald blue tip stag, are improved the last couple weeks... i have been dosing the new additives since the first week of December, so its been a couple weeks...

we will see how things go...
