Neal's SPS & ZOA/PALY SYSTEM Coral & Livestock pics thread...

hi everyone, first off i jus wana apoligize for the unnecessary post in a BRS only forum thread, and thank the mods and administration for helping me out with it all... it was tacky and one foolish situation, however, one i didnt ask for, but one i allowed myself to get caught up in... it was unnecessary, and again, my apoligies...

anyhow, back to a reefing note, I had to up my dosage of 2 part over a week ago, and i found myself chasing my levels a bit, and i was getting a bit frustrated over the whole thing... but after about 10 days of persistance, i seemed to have found that sweet spot again :) i measured my calcium and alkalinity today for the 3rd day in a row, and they were spot on in my opinion, and consistant the last 3 days... my calcium was right about 450, and my alk, which is far more important imo, was right at a nice 8.2 - 8.3... again, right where i like it... I now add daily, 2.5 ounces of calcium, and 3 ounces of alkalinity :)

I will try to take some pics for this week tonite or tomorrow night, and i will get them up here... you all know how i love pics :) lol

Great thread! I love the system. Very unique. The growth rate of the coral shows the success of the system. Tagging along. Keep up the great work.

hey thanks guys! for real... unfortunately i have run into a couple issues, and have a couple unhappy corals, which i will post and talk about in this, and another thread i will start, as i need a bit of educated opinions on some of these issues i am having... but for the most part, everything else is doing well... i havent been online much the last 3 weeks, but i will take some new pics as soon as i get a chance :)

and a pic of the tyree purple monster i have been nursing back... i have had it for 4 months, and it has grown a very small amount, which pretty much means its jus taken much thicker and more pronounced shape... the color is nearly 100% now and aside from being recently moved in this pic, it has very good polyp extension normally, and the polyps are a nice white... I really hope this one makes it long enough to grow a bit... i am gonna keep it closer to the bottom of the tank, but in lots of flow... i really hope it will grow thick and densily branched and with a very bumpy texture...

Looks great Neal and beautiful fish!

You know, I never liked those square frag plugs up until I saw this thread. Very cool! Great tang too, from what I'm hearing, those have been tough to come by lately.

nice setup Neal. Your setup is one of a kind. No one has ever thought of setting up this way. I think you should pattern this.
I really like the blue/purple tang.

wow very cool, do you sell these frags?

anything you see in my system is my own colony... i do frag my larger colonies a little bit here and there, but it is very few far between... of course i will find homes for the species i jus dont care to keep anymore, or ones that might no do so well in my system... and occasional i may "prune" of a peice that isnt growing so nicely or seems to be "against the grain" of the coral's looks.... but overall i really dont frag... i did have a small fragging session back in the early spring, but i regret it, and wish i didnt touch them at all... my goal is to allow each and every coral i choose to keep in my system, to grow out and un-inhibited in pattern and reach, as well as 360 degrees in all directions... i want my corals to actually become mature and developed colonies, not jus a tennis ball sized or smaller repilca of what could be if the coral is actually left alone and not chopped and/or made to grow right up along side many other corals, inhibiting its growth and growth patterns... the beauty in my eyes, lies in each and every particular coral and its own colors and shapes... clearly this 75g standard is not the proper choice to acheive this, but it was my starting point for my idea... well actually my previous 40g breeder was and i'll post a pic of that 6 months in, for fun :)

btw, that is a Koralis magnum 7 in a 40g breeder... and the flow was lovely :)
