well a few days shy of a month I think my tank has cycled.3 days ago and today water is at 0 ammonia 0 nitites and maybe >5 nitrate 440 calc 0 phosphate 8.0 ph at 77.5-81 temp. s.g. 1.0245, algae is starting to disapear with the help of the hermits and snails I have. just did a second in 3 days 15% water change. Now it is time for a serious clean up crew addition to my 6 scarlet hermits and 12 astrea snails. they are not keeping up with there own waste ( i think) since they are pretty much algae eaters and I appear to have what looks like snail crap on the bottom and rocks when blown off with turkey baster. I have a bunch a pods running around in the refuge, which is what my next question is. When i did this water change I shut down all but 1 ph, right after i did a water change and started everything back up I had dozens of teeny white (smaller thah a pin head) fast crawling things on the glass. My old eyes could not make out what they actually looked like (even with magnifying glass) but I am going to guess some kind of pod. after about 10-20 minutes they were gone. They almost looked like the larger pods in the fuge. Any guesses? Well maybe a trip to the CRA store this weekend since it is the closeest to me now that Marc is gone, and check out cleaning crews.
Thanks to the group for all the posts that have been helping and the people I have personally met that have helped. Looking forward to getting some live stuff in the near future. Oh I forgot I do have 1 featherduster, he was too cute to pass up the other day and is doing just fine. Also the 3 tiny starfishes that were in the piece live rock Daire gave me have now started to come out and stay out for a while. Man they are small less then the size of a dime! Am also going to try peppermint shrimp to take care of the aptaisia I have ( up to 4 very small ones ) now.
