Ripped Lionfish Fins....

Snidgetless

Non-member
So i sucked it up and changed out all the crushed coral in my tank for a nice 6" bed of sand. Thanks Cobraz for the sand, hopefully my nitrate issues are in the past. The move went generally well (thanks Pech29). Only casualty was when netting the lionfish (i know... but only way i could get him) two of his top spines got ripped and the "spine" is now separated from the fin about 1/4". Anyone have any experience with this happening? How long until it grows back, or does it ever grow back on to the spine?

I would have, but he is a wicked jumper and about a foot long, unfortunately it was my only option. On a side note, i used the time he spent in a trash barrel to whip up some fresh water for my first FW dip. Went really really well, almost all of the ick fell off of him, it was amazing. As soon as i put him back in the tank he started showing signs again, but its all fallen out of his eyes, and the puffer is nearly ich free as well. I will be doing more of these in the future....

Chris glad to hear things went ok for ya. Sorry bout the lion's fin. You will happy to know that your critters are fine fed them some small silversides last night. Oh and there ended up being 1 large hermit, 2 small hermits, seastar, and a large snail.

Sweeeet, thanks again for watching these guys. I found my other large hermit and tossed him in the nano. I will prolly swing by and see you again soon with him, but for now he will do fine in the small tank. Glad to hear everyone is doing well, i miss my CC already. But i got something good in mind for you as a "thank you" when i pick everyone back up!!

Glad it worked out for you! You should have called me and I could have swung by and helped you out. How are they eating now?

On another note, your gloves will be here Wed :)

You know, i even told my buddy i wanted to call you... but its the weekend and i figured it was time for the wife and kids, so i opted not to bother you. Haha, next time i do something big like that i know who to call!
