Ok so like many of you know, I suffered a complete loss when I lost power for four days during that last freak snow storm. I decided since I would be starting completley over again I would take this opportunity to go a different route. I really like the look of the shallow reef tanks I have seen and really didnt like not being able to reach the bottom of my last tank. I got a great deal on a deepblue 60 gallon shallow rimless tank and stand combo and was off to the races!

I first painted the back and side black and began customizing my overflow plumbing

I had to completely cut the overflow kit in half to make it fit such a shallow tank, seems to have worked out great though

Love this cabinet, two doors in the front and one on the side, no more straining to get under the tank

Top down viewing is great, I got a viewing box so I can photograph things, when I fill it up again.
I have a mp40 and an mp10 I can make actual waves with them its very cool

Talk about getting right back into the saddle.

Plus to do it all in 30 minutes-kidding.

Just looking t at the time stamps of the post.

Good to see you came back fighting.

Love it. Going low live rock in the display huh? Love the look-- Unique Aquaria's got a number of those (wide, open top, minimal aquascape). I think they look great.

Best of luck getting back up.

Does the shallow tank limit the fish you can get

Looking good.I almost got the same tank but went with the 75 instead.Just in time for the FFM and BRS auction coming up so fill that bad boy up brother

Glad to see you got right back into it. Looks great!

Let me know if you are ever up this way. I have some SPS that needs trimming I would be willing to donate. Shoot me a PM.

Thanks for all the kind words guys. I needed something to spark my interest again and this was it. I'm really liking the shallow look its drastically different than what I had. I am keeping the other setup too just in case I change my mind. The shallow tank will limit me a bit but I have never really been into keeping larger fish anyways. I was more about the corals the fish usually served a purpose like maintenance workers. I will definitely be taking people up on their generous offers so I can restock my tank. I haven't had any signs of a mini cycle so I think I'm good but still keeping an eye on things.

That is a very sweet tank.

Be careful, I measured a 400 Radium on the Galaxy 250/400 ballast, with the Lumenmax Elite, and got 2000 ppfd at 12" from the bulb in the sweet spot. Nice!

Im liking the spread and penetration seems awesome, Ill have to snag the par meter when its nearby to check it out. At the very least I should get great growth!

Wow is that a nice looking tank!

I'm glad to see you haven't given up Shane.
