SaltyJaytee IM 200 EXT Journey

After a tough year long battle with Dino’s. I think I have finally beat them. Not sure what did it but the sand just started to recover one day.. it’s been about a month and haven’t seen a spec of brown on the sand! Two things I changed up that may have helped in this case are 1. Carbon Dosing & 2. Strict weekly water changes. Tank is now recovering and slowly stabilizing. Corals are slowly coming back. I’ve lost all my acros which is a bummer but also a very valuable lesson learned. Dealing with Dino’s for the year and taking on the mental hardship + money loss in corals took a toll on me and I was literally days away from selling everything. Then suddenly the sand cleared…. Interesting huh lol. Happy to still be here! I think I’m going to take my time this time around… let the tank continue to recover and stabilize. Then maybe some time next year start buying more corals!
Happy with my current live stock. Leaving my parameters in a good range, I’ve actually stopped vodka dosing because everything is balancing out naturally since I’ve thinned my bio load out.

Other than that, everything is chugging along and I can finally enjoy the reef

Also upgraded skimmer from reef octopus 152 to 250. Things a beast and oversized. Luckily still skimming for me lol. My PH went from 8.2 to 8.4 avg with the bigger skimmer!

A few future projects for me is to redo my manifold because I absolutely hate it. I designed it awful. It’s in the way and a pain in the as to work with.

Also hoping to make a wooden wall on the right side of the tank to store all my moonshine bottles. Not currently in the program but thought it’d be a neat way to showcase some trace bottles lol. The wall will be similar to how I have my control panel on the left side except less space so have to think about how to properly work the wood so that it’s a tight fit and has no light leakage from the sump.

And then lastly, would love to buy another doser and set up Auto Water Changes.
