skimmer air inlet silencer?

I just upped the pump on my bullet 2 and now the air inlet is louder than the pump.

I know there a ton of ways to do this, but wondering if anyone would like to share any ideas/designs they have made or seen?

(if it's not clear, I'm asking about a silencer attachement to go on the air inlet on my skimmer because the sucking noise is very noticable)

Any ideas welcome :)

Skimmer air intake silencer....I'd like to hear the ideas for that.

had one on my Becket
a couple of cotton balls in a short length of pvc, two end caps, one with holes and one with a nipple
I called it The Pill not too crazy on the description just what it looked like.
Worked well

Hehe, thats funny I was picturing that exact design :)

Size of the PVC? How many cotton balls (or how much filter floss)?

In the past I used oversized vinyl tube about 4' long, coiled and zip tied into a circle. That worked well also.

Pretty much what I'm using. About 3 ft. of hose with the end stuck behind the stand. Really quited it down, now I can hear my pumps and other various noises.

A section of pvc loosely filled with batting (stuffing from pillows) or filter material for freshwater tanks works well.

I use a 3/8 clear tubing as the air intake and have a 6" pc of 1 1/4" pvc with a cap on ea end....holes in the caps are a little smaller than tubing.Air intake in one end and a 1' of the 3/8 tubing sticking out the other end.....works like a charm.
Seems like just about any material(cotton balls....)would restrict air somewhat...albeit only a little.

I'm having a hard time picturing this. Can someone post a shot?

I have a 3/4" clear hose about 3-4' in length over the beckett nozzle and into a 1 gal clear milk jug (home made muffler)....cuts the "hissing" noise down quite a bit...if I recall correctly, CRA carries the PMS muffler for the skimmer...or at least can order one

Here's what I came up with. The section of tubing pretty much does the trick, but I already had the PVC so I made the little muffler. JG fittings just so it would be quick and easy to pop it off when I'm cleaning the beckett. It's a little hard to see, but the cap on the bottom has about 10 holes drilled in it. There's a little roll of pillow stuffing rolled up loosely inside.
