I set this tank up temporarily while I was waiting for my RSM to be delivered and planned on using it for a QT tank, but ended up turning it into a reef. It only has an old Koralia 3 and an Aquaclear 70 for filtration with 4 t5 bulbs over it.
I change out 5 gallons once a week, sometimes I let it go for 2 weeks. The corals definitely grow a lot slower than in my big tank, but everything stays pretty healthy.
Very nice! My main tank is sumpless as well. I'd like to have one but it is just not an option for the tank/location. My skimmer is quite small as well. I love seeing successful reefs that are run on the basics.
Thanks guys! Feel free to post your tanks that are run basic, low cost and thriving. I'd love to see them!
Lex, the torches do touch and are fine with each other.
mctec, I only have a piece of the blue and white filter floss sheet in there that I change out about every 3 weeks.
I have to say Chrissy, u sure know what u r doing! (obviously!!! ) I would never dare running a tank like your 20G, and yet u did it and made it successfull. Congratz! :wink-new: That's an attest there is no need for fancy equipment!!!...
Makes me think if I need all this fancy stuff, it sure makes it easier though, but...
