My wife tells me there is a 4 foot deep mud puddle where my deck was a few weeks ago. Marvin has begun the excavation on the foundation for my monster tank room. Yeah!!!

No time lapsed video! It will make me look slower than I already am. :)

Yes we have a Koi pond now. :( Just add fish.

Marvin in an excavator, now im going to have nightmares!! Or are you doing it the old fashioned way with a shovel??

Yes you should see me go! :)

Got dirt?

What 460G? Thats nutz...Hey thats and Idea for the wife...huge reef tank/indoor pool... Works for me!

Hey question, how deep do you need to go for frost line/footings in MA?
I have read 3', then some say bottom of footing should be at 3'.
Then I read somewhere else that bottom of footing should be at 4'.
I just want to 2x check the plans that are being drawn up for my garage/great room, then attic.
Greg, who did your plans?

The top of footing should be at 4 ft. Excavation should be no less than 5 ft to encompass the footing and 4 ft frost wall.

I drew all the plans for Gregs addition.

So Greg's wrong...again!! :D It's a 5' deep pond!!
Thanks Marvin. So far it's been 4 weeks & we haven't heard from our "architect"

Hehe I know the feeling Dave. I have been waiting for weeks for my builder to start. keep getting the "just 1 more week".. Then he came by last thursday to tell me mon/tue at the latest, still nobody! I have had an empty foundation here for about 4 weeks! http://tools4cheap.net/barn

Well at least you have your foundation in, and Greg has his started. I don't even have plans yet!! I did most of the plans myself, I just needed them "polished up" for the building inspector & the foundation plans. Then a structural engineer to review for the tank weight. Also due to the fact I am spanning the 25' width of the garage - no posts in center (so steel beams)
I was hoping to get my foundation in before winter, but doesn't look that way.

Post some pics Marvin/Greg.
Don'tcha just love Conservation Committee!!

Jeff I can start you pretty much any time.

Greg won't care if we put him off to a later date. :D

i don't have a digital camera or I would post them tomorrow.

Maybe Greg can do it.

Tempting very tempting!! I DID give you first shot at this one, but at the time I think you were playing Fish-store-guy! The guy said he can get it done in 9 days once he starts. It is post and beam with shiplap pine siding. Has 2x 48 foot x16" steel beams that support the 2nd floor loft area.

geez I even asked One-eye if he wanted to do it!

Yes I remember Jeff. I wish now I had accepted the job. Oh well. I am sure your guy will do a great job.

Jeff,
Good looking piece of property there!
Good luck with the Koi pond Greg/Marvy

My two favorite things are remodeling and building reef systems, I can't imagine a more exciting project.
BTW Greg, You are officially "over the top" building an addition for a fish tank would be considered well Nutz...In some circles...even some reef circles. :D
