december... Lets wait until we can remember that this is a club.... a group of people that enjoy something similar and that that is the reason that we meet and have fun.

December seems to make the most sense...I have been offline awhile, just came back on, and *presto*, look what's happening! Just my $ .02 worth

seems to me we need an interim board if we are currently not 'up to par'. havent read the by-laws but I think if we need to have an entity that can properly represent the BRS until an annual vote can take place regardless how many people show up.

greg, I know we want 100-125 people to fit and the library may be too small. how many square feet are we talking about. there are places <100 but what size is adequate?

lets pick ourselves up by the bootstraps and move on.

What is the rated capacity for the room in the library? I really think it is too small. I personally find myself avoiding meetings now when they are held there. I always end up standing out in the back hall when I go and miss it all anyway.

If someone can tell me 1) the capacity of that room. 2) the dimensions of that room. I will have something to compare to and will make some calls to see what else is around.

Ed is right. You guys should at least fill in the vacancies with "acting" candidates even if you want to wait until December to hold the annual elections. Especially the Secretary position. It's one of the three positions required by law (the President and Treasurer are the other two required officers). The VP's are inconsequential .. just kidding Joe (ex-VP) and Karl :D .

Ok, after reading all of the above, I want to change my vote :D I originally voted to "get it over with", but now I agree we should let the dust settle. FWIW

I thought acting candidates woudl be approved/ratified/voted on at the next meeting, then full elections in December. Seems like we have to go that route

Karl is currently acting as Treasurer. As it stands now (as I mentioned above) we will have elections for three offices and they will occur at the Wakefield library on Oct. 2nd. If you don't like the people and you feel like the election was problematic because everyone could not fit into the library, do not fear, you can vote all the buggers out two months later.

Although I'm acting as treasurer, I would like to go back to Vice President of Keeping it Real... Or maybe Vice President of Acting.

Everyone who votes or replies to this thread should consider getting more involved.

I thought you were Vice President of Faking It.

I agree, those you dont get involved are hereby no longer able to criticize or complain. Does anyone second the motion?

Seconded. BTW...hats off to Karl. IMHO you really came through to have the numbers line up.

thats crap man,if i got more than two sundays off in a month id be at every meeting.so unless you guy's change when you have the meeting's so i can go this is where i will "criticize or complain".we are all paying members and as long as we are all paying members each and every one of us has the right to voice our opinions good or bad.

IMHO if you honestly think we should keep our mouths shut my membership card belongs in the trash....

thanks,
pj

Jango, It wasnt really directed to meetings or general BRS issues but all the criticism the group got doing macna. Particularly by those who weren't involved and by many who didnt even go. I also believe those who cant, won't, or are unable to participate in any form or manner shouldnt be doing the shoulda, coulda, woulda routine afterwards.

I may be premature, but I'd like to ask the nominating committee to consider the following people (whether they accept the responsibilities or not):

Moe for at-large BOD member
Bec for at-large BOD member
Paula for ANY officer position she wants!

We need more women involved in the leadership! Leave it up to us guys and we'll always screw it up.

And for committee positions:

Penman for Membership
RobboT for Editor (I won't give up on you that easily buddy)
Joe Fitz and Pyrojon for co-Webmasters

yaktop,i agree every complaint and gripe i read after macna was mainly people who did not attend (except the whole calfo thing that was both). However, macna is over and we are speaking about the elections and whats going on now today and not yesterday or last weekend....
i also agree about the shoulda, coulda, woulda people there is no need..that is also why i have no complaints about it except for the fact that i screwed myself out of a great weekend and only got to be there for an hour....

and i apologize for taking you the wrong way i was just looking ahead not behind, and with that being said anyone who has an idea or complaint bring it up when it needs to be brought up, not after the fact, it does no good and wont fix anything...

So who is on the nominating committee? Do we have one for this upcoming election?

I would like to make a nomination and am not sure where to go with it for official entry.

I agree, those you dont get involved are hereby no longer able to criticize or complain.

So does that go for Officers and BOD members who arent willing to remove someone doing things they might disagree with and do the job themselves?
