No Scott Im defending myself and my best friend. The current officers and BOD are pinning blame on a few individuals. Why is that inconsequential to you? Why should that be private?
I know many of you think of the BRS as a hobby club, and for 90% of you it is. For it to remain as such you must have competent leaders willing to make decisions, sometimes very difficult decisions, sometimes unpopular decisions. They also need to accept responsibility for those decisions. The job of the Officers and BOD is to handle the business of the club, that means dealing with Group Buy and sponsorship issues, organizing meetings ahead of time (do you realize that many speakers are booking 6 months out at this point?), finding adequate meeting space, moderating this board, etc. Its alot of work, you need committed people.
I am not trying to tear this organization apart. I have never once said that the people who are running for office should not do so. They should simply be honest with the members about what happened rather than let a couple members be trashed for it. They seem very willing to let people lay blame on Ron and I yet they are not without blame. Its the honorable thing to do. Their lack of willingness to discuss the issue only makes it seem as though they have something to hide.

You don't have any of the facts. You have adopted the mob rules, party line and stand in judgment of the people that were on the front line.
You were not a party to ANY of it. All you have is hearsay. You have no knowledge other than what you read posted by strangers. Those same strangers have condemned without knowledge. So your getting hearsay that has been regurgitated several times until it is so far from the truth and yet you stand in judgment based on that regurgitated BS.
You should listen to those that were there from the beginning. You should not judge unless you want to be judged yourself.
You want to get involved with finger pointing but you have nothing to point with.
Get involved when you have some knowledge of the facts. Not with hearsay.

You take one excerpt of the whole picture and then judge.
When you see all that was done leading up to that one event and then take it on further to the end you may get the whole picture. If you choose to do so.
If you want to judge based on all the facts then i will listen but if you selectively pull out one excerpt then you lack credibility and your opinion is without substance.
When you have all knowledge then you can make a creditable stand. Until then don't just post to add fuel to a fire.

I love the hobby of reef keeping & I love the fact that I'm in a club with people having the same interest. Everyone ask yourself this question. Why did you join the BRS?
Replying to this question on the boards is not needed. Please refrain from comments on this subject. I just thought everyone could take a step back (themselves) so we may continue to go foward with this awesome society!!!

After nearly two years of involvement in a club where you found some of the best friends you've known, after helping build the club up to its current level and after working so hard to pull off what should be the clubs crowining achievement you are labeled pariah because of an unpopular decision that everyone went along with. Would you feel comfortable showing up at a meeting? Quite frankly I feel cheated. Cheated by those very people that I thought were my friends, those I thought would stand behind their actions.

In many endeavors an independent auditor will step in at the end and write a debriefing of the event and attach the financials to be presented to the company and or its board of directors.
Why not do this now and have it ready for the October meeting before the voting?

Not just accountants - but a debriefing of the entire event. Who did what when. Successes. Failures. Lessons learned.
