My birds nest has been fine for 5 + months but just yesterday thus happened:

I dipped it and fraged the healthy part away from the dead. It's still dying on me though. Not sure what to do. I'm not very experienced with sps. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Did it shade itself a lot? If not, it could just be RTN. What are you'r parameters like? Have you had any spikes recently?

My paramiters are:

ph 8.0 ( doesn't go up but drops a litle at night)
alk 9
salinity spot on
calcium 450
nitrates and phos are very low
running phos remover and carbon

1200-1300 not very acurate kit. But all my other sps are thriving.

What's your alk at now???/ With all of that GFO

9+ I added suppliment with a water change yesterday because of the colony dying. I also added fresh gfo and carbon.

what is ''gfo?''?

All of my birdsnest is gone only have a frag of it left. It died in about two days.

The GFO double up probably caused an RTN incident, and or your water change caused an alk spike. Birdsnest is very sensitive to alk changes.

I can tell my alk is off just by looking at my birdsnest

Thanks that's good to k ow. I have two ther bird nest and they are fine. Pink and Ora green. I'll keep a closer eye on alk.

Welcome to Birdnest land! I've been doing this for years and never had any luck with BN. Same thing, a few months and then BAM!!

I would frag up the healthy parts and toss the dead. JMO.
