today i found a shrimp claw in my tank. i saw the pistol this am and he looked fine but then i found this claw. i took it out of the tank and it was hollow so i'm thinking its a molt. the shrimp are'nt exactly what i would call meaty though so it might of been his claw and it just didn't have any meat in their. looking for some advice from people with experience. i've never had shrimp so never seen a molt before. don't know if this helps but the pistol and his goby are the only guys in the tank. also i only saw the claw and not any other part of his shell wich makes me worry it might actually be his claw. thanks for any help.

what is it a molt or somthing worse

Agreed it's prob a molt... It also could be from a hermit... A good indicator of a molt is that all my past shrimps seemed to be less active after a molt while the new shell hardens...
it still had some brown coloring to it. i don't have any hermits.dont plan on putting any of those pita in their either leaned that on my last tank. the shrimp is hard to tell if he active he kind of just chills out under the rock most of the time. i did see him eating some mysis when i put it near the entrance to the den. the only thing that could of torn it off was the goby and they seem to be best buddies. maybe they got into a roommate quarrel.
