When I do a water change and turn everything back on I get a bunch of little air bubbles coming out of the return for a while after being turned back on. Why? It doesnt happen every time.

Cause while the water level was low air flowed back down the pipe and when u filled it back up over the entrance to the tube the whole Line full of air was pushed through the water

Ah ok. I was worried it was an air leak. It is not doing it as much anymore.

If it's an air leak the bubbles won't stop. You can also get bubbles from water splashing around in the sump, and or if the water level on the sump is too low.

FWIW, if you ever do have an air leak on a pump it will be on the intake as a leak anywhere else would cause water to leak out insted of air getting sucked in.
