Wierd Crab id.

So a few weeks ago i moved my 65 gallon tank with not much in it except 80 lbs of lr and a pair of clowns across the room. not a big deal. So i added a little hypo tang yesterday and he was doing fine all day and eat at night. when i turned the lights off he found a nice nitch in the rock to sleep in. this morning i didnt see him and looked closer at the spot he was chilling in the night before.

All i saw was his whitish head. I attempted to pull the head piece out...but was confunted by a dull white crab. the i removed the fish head....and then carefully attempted to remove the crab but he went back into hiding.

What i saw was a white/gray ish crab with claws that have black tips on them.

Im assuming he has been in the LR since i bought it...does anyone know what kind of crab it is?

Tough to say without a pic but if it did eat the fish it could be either a gorilla crab or stone crab.

im thinking stone crab i have 2 in my fug from what i heard not good in a tank

I just googled it and look at pictures...it is a gorilla crab...what should i do about him?

Try to see if its hairy. IIRC in general hairy is bad and could be moved to the sump.

if you can remove the rock it's in, you should be able to get it out....

Glass jar and a piece of shrimp, when he goes in put a net over the opening and pull out the jar.

Thats all you need! I got a snowflake eel out of a 75 gal display reef with a piece of pvc and a nylon sock, a crab should be no prob

Put a tall glass with smooth sides up against the rockwork with food in it. The crab once he falls into it will not be able to get out, he'll stay there for hours struggling to escape. In the morning, flush him or put him in your sump.
