yet another build thread (180 inwall)

i will say that getting done fast was a goal. as all my livestock is on basic life support. having a clear set of daily goals and not doing more each day was important. if i get tired i start to make mistakes which in turn makes a part take longer when it needs to be redone. also i did as much as i could before moving the 90. i built the stand in another room and walked it in. demo would have been much faster if the room was just drywalled. but all and all it was only a few hours to take it out and clean up.

thats a great build and lookes super good! great work, someday i hope to have something this amazing

Chris if you need a hand I will have free time this weekend. call me :)

gary, that would be cool i think i am gonna do the switch on sunday if you want.

ok...done....well almost just need to make enough water for the switch!!!

got the 20 long in place. it was being used as a holding tank for about 100 lbs of my rock so i filled the 180 1/2 way overnight and was able to put the rock into the main display which now has 100 gallons of 1.025 80 degree water in it. using 2 spare maxijets for circ atm (if you are a reefer and don't have 4 or 5 of these laying around get some!!!). after that cot all the plumbing glued. we are ready to rock and roll. i have a question for yall. can i use my aquacontroller to controll my calcium reactor? like any ph controller?

here are some pics from today.

the only light that is running is the 150 in the center i need the ballast for the 2x250s but they are on the 90 now...that will happen when i do the switch!

wow, you did a lot in short amount of time!!

i'm only lazy at work....

so i need to do some electrical neatening up tomorrow as well.

i made water over night and made the transfer. aquascaping took about 2 and 1/2 hours i think its ok i may tinker later. aquascaping in a 180 is a whole different world then the 90 was the extra foot print adds so much...love it love it love it! did i say i love it? corals are all in but surely not in all the right places. also i got the vhos in and i did not think that was gonna happen. so i am pretty much done. i still need to fart around with the aquacontroller and mess with the controllable pumps but that's all fun for later.

me messing with the vho wires

couple of finished shots... i cant believe i found a used tank with no scratches!

i am a bit new to the club so i will need to check it out...

does anyone know if i can use the ph control built into the auqua controller jr to control my calcium reactor?

Oh, sorry. The joke is that Paul spent like 2 yrs building his system before having any water. (He's a real joker, that's the only reason I joke about his build :) )

If your controller has a PH probe and PH control functions, then yes definately. You can set it up so the effluent runs into a small container, then put the probe in that container, or you can mod the plumbing on the reactor so that you can mount the probe in that somehow, or you can install a probe holder fitting on the reactor itself. (What kind of reactor do you have?). {Quick tip, it's very easy to make a probe holder fitting out of a 1/2" john guest fitting, you just need to carefully drill out the stopper lip so the probe can slide all the way in.)

One of those Lumen Brights looks familiar:).

You sure can use your Aqua Controller Jr to control your CA reactor.

Looks FLIPPIN AWESOME! I didn't see this thread until now. Nice work!

thanks barry. it sure is your reflector...i think it is working too good.

right on jimmy and barry about the ph controller. my Ca reactor is diy. i will find the thread about the build tomorrow but i am too drunk now....spent all night staring at a cloudy panel of glass in my wall tonight, lol

I'll get you a pic of the John Guest modded into a probe holder. I installed it right into the lid of my DIY reactor. Cost $3 at HD since (as long as you already have the 1/2" FPT tap).

your crazy man!
