Aqua Remora skimmer question

I have been using my aqua c remora protein skimmer for almost a year now and it has worked fantastically. Recently it has been making some gurgling noises and I wonder if anyone has had this problem? Its still working flawlessly just noisier. I know that there is a screw under the collection cup but I am not sure what it does. I'm afraid to f&^k it up. The directions that it came with just said to plug it in and let it go. Any help is appreciated.

Have you cleaned it? Taken the pump apart and put it in vinager recently. You can get a build up or junk in the pump or the skimmer body and this can cause noise.

Didn't know that I was supposed to do this. Any links for the correct process?

no link but you can take the pump off and usually it is fairly easy to take the impeller out. Put it all in vinager for a night then take it out and rinse. I would rinse out the skimmer body as well to get sand and such out of it.
