Does muriatic acid and acrylic mix?

Hi,

I would like to clean out my 90g before I sell it and there is a fair amount of coraline algae in it right now. I'm just wondering if muriatic acid is safe to use with acrylic. It would take a ton of vinegar and I can't get my hands on any glacial acetic acid for cleaning.

If not HCl, what does work?

I've used HCl on all my tanks and pumps. I'm pretty sure it's be ok on the acryllic, but if you want to make sure, why not try dabbing some on a hidden part of the tank?

You could also try to PM "acrylics" on RC and ask about it.

What about photographic stop bath? It's acetic acid with an indicator in it. I wonder how bad the indicator is...
You might be able to get non indicator stop bath.
Anyway, the stuff is pretty strong...
