Fluval Canister Filter?

Mini4x

Sea Box!
I have an old 304 can filter from the old freshwater days..

Can I use this for anything useful like a Phosban Reactor?

Sure why not.
If it is the 1 with refillable media trays then it should work fine. Maybe a little tough to clean tho.

it has 3 layers, i used to use it in my freshwater, one layer was a foam block, one a bag or carbon and one has little ceramic nuggets..

I use a really old fluval on 1 of my tanks works great. It does not have the newer trays but it does have the foam block and the ceramic beads. I rinse the foam block once a month or 2 and it seems to work fine.

The problem will lie in controlling the flow, If you use it in a media bag you will have to likely use 2 bags to ensure a complete pass. You can use a dial inline on the return I suppose but it may burn out the pump over time, also be sure to check the condition of the hoses as it's a potential flood risk. Optimum flow is less than 100g hour.
