Question on T4 pump placement, self priming, safety, gravity, etc...

I have what I think is an older style T4 pump. There are no threads on the inlet/outlet tubes coming off the pump, just female hose couplings. In the past this pump was hooked up to a bulkhead on a drilled tank. Because of space and location constraints this option is no longer available. What I was thinking of doing however is screwing the pump to the back of my stand, inside above the sump. So the pump would be above the sump, off to the side. A hose would run from the pump, down into the bottom of the sump.

When my power goes out, will the pump self prime when the power comes back on by sucking water up?

It would have to suck water up about a foot.

any thoughts or learned knowledge much appreciated. I'd like to avert a disaster if possible!!

I second that on check valves that will not close tight, also if you hard mount the pump to the stand you will get a lot of vibration noise.
