diy skimmer party???

Would anyone object to 1/8" cone? Cuz id love to try making a few jigs to get it done. I just finished a few jigs so that i can make skimmer boxes with only one viewable sheet of plastic. ie front and sides are one sheet. front corners with a 11/16 outer radius(copper piping to bend around). But ive made 4 of these so far. all are identical and templates are now being used...if anyone needs a skimmer box let me know haha. 1/8" cool?

oh, what would be the need for the math that Greg was referring to? Im more visual and dont get it just yet. thx

a square huh lol

It could work as long as its strong enough. What about making to 1/8" cones, one slightly bigger, and layering them?

lucky i need to get some money together..i think imma just go total custom..and use my one time mass custom bike thing

i just want to build a diesel skimmer that could handle a lot. so whether its a big cone. a big tube recirc or a square i dont care
i would like to try the cheapest

I am need of a new skimmer also. I still have that frame for you if you want it. Free of course.

Anyone have a heat gun? Im thinkin if asm g-series can do its thing at 1/8" we should be all set.

so how about that math?

how big are you guys looking for? like 250gallons worth or what?

About that. I do have a heat gun. What math are you looking for? the cone angles?

Ooooook. So here she is (so far). Sorry for the signatures getting in the way..my business adviser (dad) would tweak.

there she is. she stands a bit tall. 37" total. but as you can see the neck is pretty damn tall. so we can cut her down a bit.

I did out some of the math for the cone:

If we draw up an equilateral triangle..with both of the equal sides having a length of 32-13/16". we then use a massive version of Greg's jig (2x4?) to cut our arc from equal side to equal side. oh, and an angle of 65 degrees between the two sides.

we then bend it? how? dunno..but i did it up with construction paper haha, and it comes out to a nice lookin cone.

as far as the bubble plate action. microbubbles go through the center of bubble plate one to be directed towards the outer walls with cone 4. the bubbles travel up through bubble plate 2 and are directed towards the center of the skimmer with cone 3. the bubbles then smash into disc 3 and gently rise to the top.

no idea how much it will cost. ill look into parts etc if we settle on this or somthing like it. i know its a bit complicated...but logically it should do the trick and then some. the good news is..this will be a tough one to finish in a day, we may just have to start puttin a few down in the AM! haha ehhh niiiice

are all those plate necessary.. the thread i posted he only had one

and how many sides does your design have?

I like it a lot. Its 0 sides and one bent cone. My only concern is if we are making this out of 1/8" is it going to be strong enough? Also I live pretty south, I hope that's okay with everyone.

its good wit me...

it should be stong enough to support the water and everything while running

my questions is if it can take being drilled. and cut up and stuff

I wouldn't see why not. Just go slow.

yea thats true..

i wonder how much acrylic sheet we would need..

well..we need a set plan on the thing.. and we need to order everything

4x8' sheets through my supplier are:

1/8"-$64.84

3/16"-$98.80

1/4"-$120

3/8"-$200.30

Hes getting me a quote on tube, it may be a good deal for scrap odds and ends etc.
