Galaxia Polyps Not Extending

pesto

Keeping it Simple!
Does anyone know why the polyps of my Galaxia will not extend? Other than the ph being a bit low at 7.8 all water conditions are perfect.

My Carbonate Hardness is low at 6. I began daily dosing to get it up a bit.

Yes, the alkalinity at 6 dkH is a low reading. Normally, I have been around 9 dkH ... didn't realize that would have such an effect. This is why the forum is so awesome!

BTW, I got this Galaxia from you as a free-be for buying some other corals. It has been healthy, happy and growing for about 18 months. I really want it to come back strong. Thanks!

+1 the alk and ph being low will cause this open the windows in your office tomorrow and leave the stand doors open that might help raise it a little.

Will do . . .

Low alk will reak havoc, you might look into daily dosing for alk and calc, the alk is as simple as xx ml of disolved baking soda daily

I dose with B-Ionic Alk, Cal & Mag. I was dosing every day but, about 8 weeks ago went to an every other day schedule. That has apparently not been the best choice. I am going back to daily dosing.

b ionic is a stabilizer so you will need to add some baking soda or buffer. Remember to raise it slowly, maybe a point each day or you may stress things out.
