Green tree coral Fungus?

Jill & Brian

Reef Hiatus
I have a green tree coral in my display that is developing a black substance around it's base. I had a very small green tree frag elsewhere in the tank that has the same problem a couple of weeks ago, so i just removed it, but This piece is much larger, and I want to keep it if at all possible. Also, the "fungus" is just at the base of the coral where it attaches, and has not spread up onto the main stalk.

What should I do? The piece is mounted on a small rock, and can be easily removed, but what will get rid of the fungus?

thanks,
Brian

I had the same problem with mine for along time. I was told they can get that with no problems as long as polys are extended and eveything else looks fine. Do you have a picture, curious to see if it looks like mine.

I have one at home, I will post it tonight once I get a free moment (Ha Ha Ha Ha .... Free moment ...) Well I will try to post it tonight either way :D

I've seen this occur a few times. It usually does not wipe out the coral (I've never seen it do so), but I would suggest picking the coral up and swishing it to remove the 'stuff'.

Thank you Greg, i will try that.
