Wow I wish that I posted for donations when my reef tank crashed a few weeks ago.

If Ryan wasn't on vacation this thread would be much different...

you''l find that everyone here is more than willing to help out.
especally when its some one who dedicates so much of his time to the club.
he's only been around a short while but Ryan's worked hard for the BRS. People see it and know it.

if its frags, lending a hand, or just knowledge.
we all have something to offer the club in our own way.

yeah the poor guy is going to come back from costa rica to find his tank dead.

I am sure everyone in this club uderstands how horrible that is.

Scott need a hand with anything setting up ryan tank ect.

I is great that everyone is being so helpful. It says a lot about this site and how passionate everyone is. And hey at least he's having a great time now. He gonna come home and be amazed at everyones support.

yeah, i agree with scott. ryan is a great guy, who i know has done a bunch of favors for me along with others, so this is the least i could do.

all his prized frags.......gone. leathers melted, i brought a pump over so the tank now has flow. the pump is frozen. calcium build up.

I think we really do need to get a keg and have a tank raising Party....

I am a newbie, but I would be happy to help out with photos and gopher type work!

I do have a small Xenia and a Colt colony that I can spare of frag of if he's interested.

When is Ryan returning?

He'll be back Monday.

I think people who have been around the club for a couple months won't be so suprised to see people rally around a member who's had a crashed tank. It happens too frequently, and folks are always willing to help in a variety of ways. I think the ammount of good will is sometimes particularly high, as in this instance, when the crashed tank belongs to someone who has good reefer karma. Ryan Kitchen (Piscevore) is our new VP of Public Relations, has been very involved with helping other reefers, and generally improving the club. I'm helping him out because he has helped me out in the past, and I imagine many others feel the same way.

I had a similar crash a couple months ago, and the help and support I got from friends here was really encouraging, and helped convince me to get things up and running again. I know how much it's needed when your reef-enthusiasm takes a big blow like this, so people just want to help each other out. This case isn't really too much out of the ordinary.

Is he all set???

I'm down in Florida for a funeral so I feel a little removed, plus I have very few frags at this time. However, I still do have a plethora of Montipora sp. (all colours) and a very aesthetic pink carnation-like soft coral thats about the size of a large grapefruit. Please PM me if you need corals for Ryan,

Man, how did I miss this thread!? Count me in for a few frags.

so does he know what has happened yet? :(

Nope.

Judging from all these offers, I think we'll need to pitch in to buy him a bigger tank to! :) That 50 gallon is going to get awfully crowded.

He will be setting up a 65, if Scott hasn't done that already for him. Good to see everyone coming together.

Who's going to pitch in for the BIGGER ELECTRIC BILL?
