New BTA just split

I just got a nice 5" pinkish, greenish, purplish Bubble Tip last night and it's already splitting. I've been watching it all day - so cool! Right now ther are two distinct anemones, but not sure if there's still a connection. Can anyone tell me what to expect as far as when I should try to feed? Are they going to bounce around?

IME Usually once they seperate all the way, they will sort of walk in seperate directions but both halves stay attached to the rockwork.

When I've had splits, it's almost like nothing happend by the next morning, you just have 2 insted of 1. I give them a few days before feeding just to be safe.

So I should be pretty safe leaving the powerheads on tonight? I'll hold off on any food stuff for a bit. I had an LTA for about 3 years but this is my first BTA. How often do they split?

Does this look framiliar?

I would say to be VERY careful with Powerheads in the tank.

IME BTA's tend to stay attached after splitting, but also IME Mr. Murphy has a law that clearly states that any tank with anemone(s) and PH's at the same time WILL have a disaster sooner or later.

The picture is similiar to what happened. I took pictures but I couldn't get my camera to focus properly. Everything happened just as described, the split happened, they separated and now it looks like one anemone again.

I apologize for putting this in the Advanced Reef Topics - I actually thought it was just Reef Topics. Moderator, feel free to move it.

Once it separates and if you want to sell 1 let me know. Been wanting 1 for a long time and you are only 1 town away.

Congrats on the split also;

Rob

I'll keep you in mind Rob. I think I'd like to see 'em grow a bit first. It's nice to see others in the area. If we could only get a decent LFS around here... Oh yeah, I heard that Jay's in Salem, NH had some BTA's for around $30
